DYLAN relocates to Dordrecht
Moving starts with the opening of the warehouse
Moving house is always a challenge. But moving over 100 people and more than 9.000 tons of material from two different sites to a completely new location is an adventure, that the BUHLMANN subsidiary DYLAN is experiencing now.
Supply Chain Director Michel Borsboom talks about the logistics of the move. „We’ve taken possession of the newest warehouse in the BUHLMANN GROUP in just before Christmas. The photos give an impression of the new pipe warehouse with a surface area of 26.106 square meters and the flange and fitting warehouse with 5.312 square meters. With this milestone reached, relocation of material starts.”
Currently, there are roughly 6.500 tons of pipes stored in Oud Gastel and another 2.600 tons are stored in Oud-Beijerland, waiting to be moved to the new warehouse in Dordrecht. Borsboom sees it as a real challenge: “This monster job will be realized in a period of around three months. It’s planned that this move will be performed in parallel to the normal workload, so that our deliveries to our customers will not be harmed.” Michel Borsboom is convinced that things will run smoothly. “If everything progresses as planned, we will reach a stage where most of our stock and orders will come from Dordrecht by approximately the middle to the end February. The activities in the old sites will then be restricted to sending out materials to Dordrecht.” Borsboom adds that the office staff will move in March, when the facilities are ready for their new inhabitants.
