New location for the Dutch subsidiary
DYLAN is relocating

By the end of 2021, the visualization of the new DYLAN building is to become real: The new company headquarters is being developed on a 32.500 square meter premises directly by the river Dordtsche Kil. Michel Borsboom, Director Supply Chain and involved in the project, explains the background and advantages of the move.

“The primary goal is to unite the Oud-Beijerland and Oud-Gastel locations,” says Michel Borsboom. “Pooling our recourses and activities in one place makes us more efficient and quicker in reacting to market demands,” he adds. Merging the two locations has the advantage of eliminating transport costs between the sites. It also makes DYLAN more flexible in regard to express orders. A definite advantage for customers.

Warehouse and office will be found in the Distripark Dordrecht Industrial Estate with a good accessibility of the most important highways in the Rotterdam area. The warehouse will hold up to 12.000 tons of pipe material and 10.000 pallet places for Flanges and Fittings on 32.500 square meters. “That is a little less space than we currently have. But with smart and efficient storage conditions we’ll be able to accommodate a considerably larger amount of material,” says Michel Borsboom.

But that is not the only advantage of the state-of-the-art technology warehouse. Storage of pallets up to 12.2 meters will be much more effective in comparison to the current situation. The tube depot will have possibilities for innovations such as magnetic grip cranes and possibly an automated warehouse system. But there are also changes for the employees: “Because of the increasing demand of video conferences we added two meeting rooms per level, where phone conferences with our customers can take place”, Michel Borsboom explains. The building was planned in consideration of sustainability issues and is BREEAM certified (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) and therefore evaluated in regard to ecological and socio-cultural aspects.
